The FunDza Literacy Trust is pleased to announce that it will soon be distributing Two-faced friends – the fifth title in Cover2Cover Book’s Harmony High series – to the schools, libraries and organisations that participate in its “Popularising Reading” book distribution programme.
Two-faced friends is about Lelethu who has always dreamed of the big city. She’s excited to arrive in Cape Town, but soon finds out that things are not as she imagined. Her aunt treats her like a servant and her cousin is unfriendly. So when a cool gang of girls invite her to join their group, she’s overjoyed. But what kind of friends are they really? Will she have to betray her beliefs to stay in their group? And, what will happen if she dares to cross them?
The book is written by Dorothy Dyer, a seasoned textbook and teen fiction writer as well as an experienced English teacher.

The FunDza Literacy Trust tested draft copies of the book on a group of Ikamva Youth students from Masiphumelele. In addition, some LEAP Science & Maths students – also part of FunDza’s Popularising Reading programme – provided linguistic advice.
This new title touches on an issue that many teens experience: cyber-bullying and (ir)responsible behaviour in a digital world. What happens in a virtual reality can have consequences in the real world… To empower young people, the book includes online and mobile safety tips.
FunDza looks forward to seeing how readers who form part of the Popularising Reading programme respond to this new title in the near future.
Thank you Fundza for helping us to deal with such real issues
