Lea-Anne Moses

Executive Director and Trustee

Lea-Anne Moses is the executive director at Fundza Literacy Trust, an edTech social enterprise focused on enhancing youth literacy in South Africa. She has over 20 years of experience in Media, Corporate Communications and Technology, having worked for several blue-chip companies such as etv, Media24, Maersk, and Capitec Bank. Her expertise encompasses mobile learning, strategy, media relations, and design thinking. 

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Media Studies from Rhodes University and an MPhil in Inclusive Innovation from the UCT Graduate School of Business. Her academic work is particularly notable for a distinguished dissertation that explores the impact of mobile technology on TVET College education.

Tennille Rode

Head of Operations

Tennille Rode is a seasoned expert with a rich history working with both local and international non-profit entities and government sectors. Her financial proficiency shines through in her adept handling of contract and grants management, procurement, budgeting, and comprehensive reporting. 

She has an impressive record of managing major donor projects across South Africa, securing local and global funding.

Beyond leading teams to success, Tennille champions data-centric approaches to enhance operational efficiency. Her prowess in donor communication and relations makes her a linchpin in building and upholding strong relationships with vital stakeholders.

Carol Mooin

Editorial Assistant

Carol Mooin is a distinguished alumna of the University of Cape Town, holding two degrees: a Bachelor of Arts in Media & Writing, Film & Television, and Gender Studies, as well as a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Media, Theory, and Practice. Her academic journey is marked by excellence, as evidenced by her recognition on the Dean’s Merit List for consistent academic achievement during her undergraduate studies.

Carol is passionate about exploring and critically analysing issues related to young girls and women, often expressing her insights through written work on cultural themes, events, and traditions. Her contributions are frequently featured in blogs, where her expert commentary on societal norms and values is highly regarded.

Lorato Trok

Trustee

Boasting a rich career as an early literacy consultant, Lorato Trok is a distinguished author celebrated for contributing to children’s literature, particularly in African languages. With two decades under her belt, her expertise spans publishing, writing, translating, and editing.

Beyond her writing, Lorato’s global outreach is evident in the workshops she’s facilitated across countries like Zambia, Lesotho, Swaziland, Kenya, and the USA, benefiting educators, students, writers, and librarians alike. Her international acclaim saw her invited to kickstart the “Reading Africa” initiative at the renowned Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library in Washington, D.C. in 2005. 

Tracey-Lee Johnson

Chairperson and Trustee

Although her official title reads Chartered Accountant, Tracey-Lee has consistently positioned herself as a financial game-changer. With an astute focus on risk analysis, data-driven insights, process simplification, standardisation, and the art of automation, she thrives on confronting challenges head-on.

Her inclination to pose difficult questions and challenge conventional norms has paved the way for several ground-breaking projects across consulting and corporate sectors.

Tracey-Lee’s vision is to ensure Fundza’s agility in a rapidly changing landscape, emphasising the infusion of technology to reimagine literacy for the youth. She is fervently committed to reshaping the contours of literacy.

Eldrid Jordaan

Trustee

Eldrid Jordaan is Professor of Practice at Johannesburg Business School, founder and CEO of Supple, and former Special Advisor to the Minister of Public Enterprises.

He co-founded GovChat, a revolutionary civic tech platform aiding over 10 million South Africans. A former U.S. Department of State IVLP alumnus.

Eldrid’s also acclaimed globally for speaking on Civic Engagement, Digital Governance, and Social Impact Innovation, with notable presentations at institutions like Harvard, MIT, World Economic Forum, and GovTech in Paris.

Steve Vosloo

Trustee 

Steve Vosloo is a digital policy specialist for UNICEF, fuelled by his passion for integrating technology into education. His distinguished career has seen him at the forefront of mobile learning, spearheading UNESCO’s Mobile Learning Week in Paris and leading mobile strategies at Pearson South Africa.

Honoured with a research fellowship at Stanford and recognised as a fellow for 21st Century Learning at the Shuttleworth Foundation, Steve is a visionary, consistently driving innovation at the nexus of technology and education. He plays a pivotal role in shaping the future at UNICEF and the World Economic Forum.

Ruby Motaung

Trustee

Dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities and uplifting literacy rates among the youth, Ruby Motaung has carved an illustrious career in education. Currently steering the ship as the Director of TREE (Training Resource in Early Education), her leadership journey boasts significant roles such as Deputy Director in the Department of Higher Education and Training and Deputy Director for Children and Youth Literacy in the Department of Education.

Her past also shines as the Programme Manager for Room to Read. Beyond her pivotal roles, Ruby serves as a revered board member for the National Early Childhood Development Alliance.

Hannchen Louw

Trustee

A graduate of Stellenbosch University, Hannchen Louw boasts degrees in BA (cum laude), LL.B, and LL.M (cum laude). Recognised as an admitted attorney by the High Court of South Africa, she’s also an esteemed mediator accredited by the ADR Group UK.

Hannchen’s vast experience encompasses providing strategic commercial and legal counsel to property ventures. She has cemented her reputation through published articles, board memberships, and her impactful work in mediations and adjudications. Notably, she serves as a part-time adjudicator for the Community Schemes Ombud and demonstrates her versatility as an arbitrator in the construction sector.
