We are really sad at FunDza to tell you that Agnes Kimberley, one of FunDza’s most popular and regular writers, and one of our champions, passed away in December. We will miss her, and our readers will really miss her stories. She wrote twenty short stories that were loved by FunDza readers. One of her stories, Lying for Love, continues to be on the top ten list of most popular FunDza stories.
Agnes (known as Aggie to her friends) was born in Ireland in the 1950s. With her husband she immigrated to South Africa and later moved to central Botswana. This was when she began writing. She has had short stories published in You, Drum, Kutlwano, as well as women’s magazines in Ireland. Several of her children’s stories were published as ESL and HIV/AIDS readers by MacMillan and Longman.
Agnes passed away in December after a sudden illness, while visiting her children and grandchildren in Scotland. She is survived by three sons and a daughter and three grandchildren.
All of us at FunDza send strength and love to her family.
