Jayne at Claremont High with Gcobani himself, and Dorothy Dyer from FunDza

FunDza and Cover2Cover were delighted to host a visit from Jayne Bauling, writer of the latest Harmony High novel, Soccer Secrets, in September. Jayne visited COSAT library where many learners had read her books, and they were keen to ask her questions about the writing process as well as the book itself.

Jayne also visited Claremont High, where a group of learners are using the books in an extra-mural support programme. Among others she met Gcobani Nojozi, a grade nine learner who wrote that ‘I’m not the kind of person who enjoys reading books, but since I was introduced to Harmony High series I enjoy reading books. These books are like drugs once you read the first page you’ll be addicted and you’ll want to read more. With these books, there’s no use of cellphones. They made me into a couch potato.”

We love to hear how our books are having an impact on young people’s lives and how they are sparking what we hope is a lifelong love of reading. Viva the #ReadingRevolution!
