You’ve heard right… FunDza is looking for a new director! It’s been more than 10 years for me at the helm of this fantastic organisation – and both FunDza and I are ready – ready for a change. A change of pace, for me; and a change of leadership and energy for FunDza.
It hasn’t been an easy decision to make. I love FunDza. I love the people I work with. I love the work that we do. I love the stories we produce and the writers we develop. I love reading the comments and feedback. I love dreaming up new projects and making big plans. I love imagining the possibility of what might be… and then getting on and just doing it. Sometimes it doesn’t work out the way we’d planned, and that’s good too – there’s been so much opportunity for growth and learning.
Nonetheless, 10 years is a long time in one position, and so much of what I was hoping to achieve with FunDza we have done – and more besides. I have great confidence in the fabulous FunDza team and their management of our programmes. We’ve worked hard to strengthen systems and controls, and we’re in a good place from a governance and oversight perspective too. The time is now ripe for change.
I’m not leaving in a rush but the plan is that before the end of the year someone else will be taking over the controls, mapping the future, and getting ready to launch FunDza into its next decade.
