FunDza was honoured to receive a donation from the Wilbur and Niso Smith Foundation – a charitable organisation dedicated to empowering young writers, the advancement of the adventure writing genre and the promotion of literacy.
Wilbur and Niso Smith paid a visit to the FunDza offices in December to finalise the donation. We were delighted to welcome them and introduce them to FunDza’s exciting teen books, designed to get young South Africans reading for pleasure.
Thanks to the generous donation, FunDza will be delivering 175 of its titles to Langa and Nyanga libraries. The handovers will take place later in January. We – and the librarians – are thrilled at this donation, coming from the organisation of a writer who himself got many people reading for pleasure in the past.
“Thank you so much again. We are planning to start a Programme for Grade 6 students and this donation will became handy as we are in need of teen books.”
~ Sophie Mahuzie – Senior Librarian : Nyanga Library
