In December, FunDza ran a Summer Survey Competition. It was a win for us and a win for our readers too! We were able to learn more about our readers – who they are, what their issues are, what suggestions they have for improvements, what they like/don’t like about FunDza (more about this once the analysis has been completed). And, all the participants had the opportunity to be entered into a random draw in which FIVE winners were selected. Each won R1,000 in cash as well as a goodie bag of FunDza treats – books, sweeties and a highly desirable FunDza t-shirt.
Being tasked with making the calls to the winners was a pleasure. Each individual was so happy and I was blown away by the thanks I received on behalf of FunDza. Without further ado, let me introduce you to our FunDza winners:
Percy, from Katlehong in Gauteng, said the timing was perfect, as he needed to buy his kids school uniforms. He says “It’s great to be a part of FunDza, there are so many opportunities and prizes. Thank you FunDza! I will be spending my winnings on school uniforms. Thanks a lot FunDza, you are the best!”
Eunice couldn’t believe she was a winner! A beautiful twist of fate, she has been wanting to return to school to finish her matric and was recently inspired by our Just Trendi blog about going back to school and LO AND BEHOLD she was one of our winners, allowing her to fund part of her matric studies, a beautiful serendipitous moment. She goes on to say: “It means a lot to me, I never thought I’d be a winner and I’m going to spend my money on my studies. I am going to register for my matric because I have been longing to go back to school. I thank God for this opportunity as all my dreams have now come true. Thank you, FunDza!”
Michael was pleased as punch: “To be a FunDza winner means a lot to me, I’m so happy to have won and I feel like I matter to FunDza {of course! – ed}. As for the prize money, I’m going to spend it wisely by buying some clothing for job hunting. That way, when I get a call for an interview, I can wear something presentable, something that says ‘I am the one for the job!’ Thank you, FunDza!”
Mpilo was a little unsure in the first bit of our conversation, skeptical that she’d actually won, but when the prize money went into her account, she knew it was legit! Mpilo says “Oh my word, I am so happy I can’t even explain the joy in my heart! Thank you FunDza for everything, you rock!”
Phumudzo was equally thrilled to be a winner and said she was going to think about how to spend the money wisely. “Being a FunDza winner means the world to me, it was so unexpected! I feel so lucky. I’ll spend my money on trying to spread the news about FunDza {why thank you, Phumudzo! – ed} and by sharing it and making FunDza known to people.”
