FunDza offers a number of writing workshops that aim to impart important writing skills and help young people become more confident about showcasing their writing talents.
There are three different types of workshops:
- Creative Me! is a fun reading and writing workshop that uses games and group work to encourage creative expression and boost confidence in written work.
- Writing Good Essays supports teachers and learners alike with developing skills for writing essays for school.
- WritingMe! is a creative writing workshop that allows young writers to explore their personal history.
For this programme, FunDza only works with groups – schools, nonprofit organisations, literacy groups – that invite it to run a particular workshop for their group(s).
While FunDza aims to run a number of different workshops in each financial year, it does require funding to meet these needs. Dependent on funding constraints, FunDza may require the host to cover some or all of the workshop costs. These include facilitation fees, materials and resource, refreshments, venue hire and transportation.
Generally FunDza accommodates 20-25 participants per workshop, which can be hosted over either one or two days.
In addition, FunDza produces resource material for these workshops. Some of this is available for sale via its publishing partner, Cover2Cover Books.
